Robert Mercer Taliaferro Hunter (April 21, 1809 – July 18, 1887) was an American politician, lawyer, and plantation owner. He represented Virginia in both the United States House of Representatives and Senate, serving as the 14th Speaker of the House from 1839 to 1841. He later served as the Confederate States Secretary of State and in the Confederate States Senate.
